Wollemi Pine planted by Graham Ross in Japan

Thank you, Marjorie, for your enquiry.

I had several emails from the Kanaya Hotel warning me of developments there that had impacted on the Wollemi.
When I arrived I discovered the second building adjacent to the 150 year old hotel was under total reconstruction. In doing so the builders had unceremoniously dug up our tree, moved it, broke off the top and replanted it elsewhere.

The hotel has, in its 150th year, been sold to a large consortium. The great thing, I’m always optimistic, is the gathering of the Kanaya Family for our tree planting was the last Family gathering to ever be held with several Family members and the last two Presidents present, including the lovely Mrs Inoue, whom you may remember I gave a bouquet of flowers to and Mr Akiyama, have all passed away since then.
I was shocked but got to action straight away.

We had to wear hard hats as it was in the work zone.
Plan A. Treat with Popul8. Which we did and recovery was visible within two weeks. Reapply Popul8 in August 2023.
Plan B. Transplant tree to the original location in November 2023 and water in with Popul8. As it will be Autumn apply no fertiliser.
Plan C. Early April 2024 Colin Barlow to apply Bush Tucker pellets and water in with Popul8.
Plan D  Late April  2024 Graham Apply weak solution Popul8.

That’s the latest news on Wollemia nobilis ‘ Hercules Friendship’

Yours sincerely,

Graham Ross AM
